6,000 Bars of Soap Donated to Families Affected by Excessive Rainfall and Flooding in Santo Domingo

Our The WASH Foundation, an evolution of Clean the World Foundation team stationed in the Dominican Republic just traveled to the capital Santo Domingo to deliver a total of 6,000 bars of recycled Clean the World soap to Dr. Gina Estrella, the Director of Risk Management for the Ministry of Public Health.

President Luis Abinader declared a state of emergency in Greater Santo Domingo due to the damage caused by recent heavy rains and flooding, the total volume of which surpassed any rainfall quantities recorded in the past 40 years.  The Ministry of Public Health installed a mobile hospital in the Los Girasoles sector to care for people whose health may have been impacted in recent days by the extreme weather.  Fifteen similar operations are being carried out simultaneously throughout the different affected sectors to provide an immediate response to the residents’ needs.

The bars of soap donated by CTW will be delivered to the most affected communities, benefiting an estimated 3,000 families!
