Clean the World Foundation is going back to Uganda! Around the world, on October 11th, nonprofits and communities will be celebrating International Day of the Girl Child and the theme is “Our time is now-our rights, our future.” Adolescent girls in developing countries face a myriad of challenges that limit them from living to their full potential. Issues such as child marriage, son preference to go to school, and menstrual hygiene management continue to keep millions of girls out of school, disproportionately increasing illiteracy rates in women and girls. Clean the World Foundation’s previous work in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) in Uganda and it’s intentional programming around women and girls to address menstrual hygiene management is positioning us to impact approximately 1,880 adolescent girls in Uganda on October 11. Clean the World Foundation will distribute safe and reusable sanitary pads and panties to 1,880 adolescent girls in Tororo.

On Monday 10/10, Mebra Lwabaayi with Clean the World Foundation in Uganda, met with district leaders, head teachers, and senior women teachers to plan Foundation driven Menstrual Health Management and WASH activities on International Day of the Girl Child on October 11, 2022. It was raining heavily and the roads were quite dangerous, but Mebra managed to conduct productive two-day meetings and the Clean the World Foundation has the entire community excited!
