Microenterprise Program

Our microfinance initiatives help us sustain the impact of our WASH Education programs while financially empowering women in the communities where we work. During the WASH Education programs, Clean the World Foundation provides the soap and other WASH supplies that are used in the schools and healthcare facilities. However, it is crucial that the community has reliable and affordable sources of these materials locally after the programs have transitioned to fully local leadership.
To do this, we identify women in the community to participate in our micro-financing initiatives. They are provided with capital and training to launch their own businesses to ensure that the community always has the supplies needed to continue practicing proper WASH. These businesses make and sell items like soap, reusable feminine hygiene pads, handwashing stations, water filtration systems, and more.  The goal is to ensure local access to affordable, quality supplies while also providing a dignified, livable wage to the women and their families.
