Mobile Hygiene Unit Program

Homeless populations are among those most at risk for developing hygiene related illnesses. Since many do not have access to medical care, they also risk transmitting infectious diseases, in addition to contracting diarrheal and respiratory infections that can become chronic without treatment. Daily hygiene habits play a crucial role in not only keeping them clean but also preventing the spread of disease from person to person. In our experience we have found that many those who are homeless can go days, weeks, and even months without taking a shower, simply because they cannot get basic hygiene supplies like soap and have no access to running water. At Clean the World Foundation, we believe everyone deserves to feel the basic comfort and dignity of cleanliness.

Clean the World Foundation along with Las Vegas Sands have launched the Fresh Start Mobile Showers to help address the hygiene needs of the homeless, and those considered low income, while also helping them connect with homeless service organizations that can help them get a “Fresh Start.” The mobile hygiene unit can provide up to 250 showers per week, and up to 10,000 showers annually. The unit serves as an entry point for homeless individuals to help connect them to critical resources that will put them on the path to self-sufficiency. We work with organizations like Nevada Homeless Alliance, CARE Complex, WestCare, and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, to connect these individuals with emergency shelter, clothes, in addition to case management services like housing help, mental health services, and job placement.
