Homeless populations are among those most at risk for developing hygiene related illnesses in North America. Daily hygiene habits play a critical role in not only keeping them clean but also preventing the spread of disease from person to person. Many homeless people can go days, weeks, and even months without a shower, because they can’t get basic hygiene supplies like soap and have no access to running water. At Clean the World Foundation, we believe everyone deserves to feel the basic comfort and dignity of cleanliness.
That’s why we partnered with Las Vegas Sands and launched the Fresh Start Mobile Showers to address the hygiene needs of the homeless in Las Vegas. However, we don’t just provide a shower, we also help connect them with homeless service organizations that can help them get a “Fresh Start.” The unit serves as an entry point for the homeless, to help connect them to critical resources that will put them on the path to self-sufficiency. Our service partners include The City of Las Vegas, Nevada Homeless Alliance, and Nevada Partnership for Homeless Youth, and many others. Through these partnerships, they can access emergency shelter, clothes, in addition to case management services like housing help, mental health services, and job placement assistance.
