WASH Stations Program
In partnership with the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), Clean the World Foundation has launched a program that provides ongoing access to restroom facilities and handwashing stations for unsheltered homeless individuals throughout the United States.
We set up portable toilets (“porta potties”) and self-contained handwashing stations near encampments where individuals otherwise lack access to such facilities. These units are maintained daily and are available to individuals 24/7, ensuring they have the resources they need to prevent the spread of disease and stay healthy.
We also conduct handwashing education sessions at each site, and measure unit use to ensure individuals improve their WASH behaviors. Our team members also offer referrals to additional services, including case management, treatment, job placement, and housing, with the goal of helping users ultimately move into a home of their own. Currently, we operate up to 300 stations throughout Southern Nevada, Central Florida, and Puerto Rico.
